The Taming of The Shrew

There were in Italian city of Padua, live a father with his two daughters, Katherine and Bianca. Their father name is Batista Minola. His daughters are very beautiful but they have difference behavior. Bianca is the second daughter of him. She is more polite, smart in the music and the people called her as a perfect princess.

While her sister is Katherine has abusive behavior and she earned the nickname as “shrew” means that she is abusive, hothead girl. Katherine’s abusive behavior was reasonable. Why? Perhaps because the attentions that given by her father more for Bianca than herself and perhaps her behavior was describing of her dejection shown by everyone. The maturity already approached them. And it means that they have to get married. Bianca as a perfect princess certainly many men who fall in love to her and she was ready to get married. Such as Hortensio and Gremio. But their father did not agree when Bianca will marry first before his sister. And this is a very difficult and impossible to her because Katherine has a very bad attitude as a princess and a wife. So, no man who wanted married her.

Lucentio come to Padua to attend the university, when he saw Bianca, he instantly fell in love with her. Lucentio overhears Baptista’s announcement that he is in search for a tutor to his daughter. Meanwhile, Petruchio arrived in Padua with subordinates Grumio. Petruchio told to his old friend Hortensio that he wanted to get married and have a willingness to enjoy his life after his father's death. Hearing this news, Hortensio very happy and propose if Petruchio should sign on for Katherina. Whereas, Lucentio and Hortensio, pretending to be the teachers Cambio and Litio, trying to woo Bianca without her father's awareness.

Petrucio a man who like with money, more abusive than Katherine, he believes that he can conquer someone like Katherine. As a man who did not care and was very rude, he knew how to handle Katherine. And he immediately asked for permission to her father to marry with him. And of course, her father was strongly agreed. 

In the first meeting Katherine refused and threw harsh words. But for a Petrucio, he was not hurt and had been familiar with the words. And he was also with easily replied that Katherine’s harsh words. And on that day, Katherine agreed that he will marry with her.

Katherine and Petrucio married on Sunday. When Katherine walked on the middle room, she saw if Petrucio gave a box which full of the money to his person belief and she thought it was odd and as there were hidden.

And she though wants to cancel her marriage with Petrucio. But unfortunately the party already started and she was already officially become a wife of Petrucio. When the party was over, Petrucio wanted to take her away but she would not go out from her house. And there Petrucio not to be outdone, he competed with Katherine’s words. And finally he managed to beat Katherine and managed to bring Katherine went to follow him. And on their way, he let Katherine do everything by her own self and as independently.

Katherine’s attitude when considered very inviting attention. She does not know much do weight things but she did it by her own self. Her rude attitude has not actually come from herself but from the attitude of envy towards her young sister. Her jealousy was common but has lasted supercharge.

In the new place for Katherine, that was in residence of Petrucio. He and his subordinate had arranged a surprise to her. The way that they used to tame a person like Katherine and even his behavior has become the subject of conversation to people in anywhere.

And that was where Katherine carried out their duties as a wife and a simple woman. Everything she was done some works by her own self. She learned to be independent. She lived with the limitations and very far from the life of the ancients. She was not fed meat. The simplicity only happens in her present life. She was always willing to serve and obeyed her husband. Petrucio did this in the name of his love. Indeed of all men who come, just Petrucio were always prouded and praised herself.

But on the side of Katherine’s heart, she was already tired and bored. The sense of exhaustion led her to change her attitude. And as slowly she changed. Petrucio was successful with his way. He was able to tame the rough rude manner. She was as slowly changing her coarse language nevertheless Katherine ended up using harsh words from Petrucio.

In other hand, in Batista family was very busy with the weeding party of Bianca. And the fact, there were many scams among each other. That were, because there was someone that did not want to marry Katherine because of her rudeness. And also because for facilitating of relationship who Bianca was forbidden to meet with man outside.

And eventually Bianca married with Lucentio after all problems was resolved in their families. Who Lucentio won Bianca’s heart in the way woo her with a Latin translation. Hortensio make the same effort by learning the music, but Bianca loves Lucentio, and Hortensio decides to marry a rich widow. So many problems faced by the Batista family. The problems that could not be explained one by one. Lucentio and Bianca decided to avoid complex situations to elope.

Petrucio and Katherine as sister and part of the family came. And there everyone was very impressed and amazed when looked at all changing of Katherine. Including her father and all men who came on that party, that they were surprised by the change in her attitude is very polite and far from the words of rough and many others.

And in the end his father realized. If all it was not a curse and the way that he given was wrong only. Katherine was not in curses, but only a starting attitude of jealousy by her young sister. And her behavior who can be changed, by the manner provided her husband, Petrucuio. The rudeness greater that can able to tame Katherine’s behavior.

Where was in Padua, where they held such a competition where each wife must obey what her husband said. They believe if Bianca is a winner. But in the end they were equally aware that Katherine was the most obedient to her husband.
