Arts for the common people


When a number of concerned youths saw the realities of various issues arising in their neighborhoods, the idea of nurturing artistic talent popped up, in the belief that art can be a representation and abstraction of reality.
So they started encouraging local children, instructing them in the several skills and arts such as music, photography, engraving, screen printing, painting free of charge and etc.
Fully undertaken on a self help basis, today the activity has become their Saturday and Sunday agenda, With the children learning and practicing together, followed by a modest lunch of plain food. Simplicity and togetherness mark the atmosphere  they have maintained to date.
This is KOMPAS ( komunitas ipa satu ), the name of their community in the senior high school, Helvetia Medan, set up  in 2010. As time goes by, they continue to introduces the arts to communities on the outskirts of Medan  so as to promote the ethos and morals of the younger generation in the city’s marginal areas.

What they aspire to achieve is simple yet noble : art as a guardian of morality.

Put a Methamphetamine in the Pocket Sentenced to 4 Years


A package pocketed of methamphetamine to deliver his life behind bars for the next 4 years, after a district court magistrate Medan resident sentenced in Tanjung Mulia Medan, because proved guilty according to the rules UUD about narcotics.

This was revealed in a trial that was held at Chakra Lounge 4 PN Medan, Tuesday ( 19/11 ) at 14.00  but before the magistrate passed a decision, Arif could deny that accused of methamphetamine is his but owned by his friend who entrusted him. “It does not belong to me. I just deposited by my friend” he said.

Nevertheless, the magistrate who chaired by Rianto Kawit SH believes that based on the evidence and witnesses also defendant, the verdict was handed down against him. In his decision the magistrate also imposed a grudge 800 million and a month imprisoned.


Randi who his friend was arrested by police not far from his home after receiving information from citizens related to the widespread circulation of narcotics, in October 2013 and when arrested was found from his pocket a small package of methamphetamine .

No Man is an Island


Aren’t we human beings and not angels? Which each of us have different strengths and different weaknesses. And we should be able to complete each other by way of mutual assistance, so that the needs that we need in this life can be fulfilled and we can soften the burden we have gained. Therefore, human is called social beings where humans can’t separate themselves with other human. So, occur the communication and interaction with others and form the culture in society.

There is no man who doesn’t need help from others human and this is an absolute thing of life that could not be changed. "No man is an island" it means: no one can live alone without depend on each other 100 %. No one is able to build high buildings without the help from others. No one can make a beautiful and powerful ship without the help from others and etc. Because in this world we can’t live alone, with other human beings so the world is full of different colors and make it wonderful.

Humans can’t live alone. This has been going on from the very beginning we enjoy the air that give life to us. When we were a baby that we could not ate , drank , dressed and so on was done with our own and there are where the role of parents to provide the needs of the baby. When we are teenagers until adults, we still depend on other people. This takes place because we need the knowledge that we can get from the teachers, we need the guidance from parents or people that around us to point us toward the good, helping us to find our true self or our identity as human. And until we die we still need others to bathe our bodies and bury our bodies until pray for us.


Humans also require assessment and awards that given from other human beings. So forming a potential of existing in themselves and they can create something new or to advance the knowledge of technology. Humans can’t live alone is evident from, although humans have a lot of wealth but the human would not feel happy when living alone without other human. Is not this awful?

To remove acne scars can be done by some aloe vera and baby powder to taste.






Step to accomplish

First, peel  and wash some aloe vera.  Second, slice ​​into small pieces and then blend until smooth. Third, dry in the sun for five minutes to be used is not too itchy.

The wear can be done by flush face wearing warm water, then dry with a towel.  Usefulness of warm water to open the pores of the skin. Then take the slime out of the aloe vera taste and add baby powder and mix together until creamed to make masks. Apply on face before bed, and wash face when we wake up from sleep with warm water. Perform routine so that black spots acne scars be disappear.

On 3 April 2013 the motorcycle belonging to one of student in State University of Medan in Faculty of Language and Arts  had been missing from the existing parking lot at the Pasca Sarjana Building. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 10.00 A.M. which the victims felt panic and immediately reported the incident to the security guard and the victim asked her friends for helped her to find her motorcycle around  State University of Medan.
She also called her parents to resolve her problem. Her motorcycle has identity with the number 2499 ACA that reported to the police but were yet to be discovered till now. Her family and she also reported to the showroom and finally the showroom gave them insurance to Rp. 9.000.000 where their motorcycle for 2 months will be ending.

International Seminar about Language Learning Preserves Culture in the Future

Faculty of Language and Arts in State University of Medan was holding an international seminar about language learning preserve culture in the future on Saturday, May 04, 2013 in the Madani Hotel, North Sumatra, Indonesia. And the presented by five speakers were a very interesting who 2 of them come from Malaysia. And one of them from USA.
Background of events
International seminar had been successful, where the events are arranged very neatly. The events ware led by Septian Nasution and Sri Lestari Setiawan that the began  from registration of participants, the opening act like the opening dance of  Tor-tor of Sumba,  National anthem like Indonesia Raya song, opening prayer, opening speech was delivered by Hasbi  Ramadan (The Head of  Event Organizer), Rahmad Husein Nasution (The head of Students Council), Dra. Masitowarni Siregar, M.Ed. (The Head of Communittee ), Prof. Dr. Hj. Sumarsih, M.Pd. ( The Head of  English Department), first presentation  by Prof.Amrin Saragih, Ma. Ph,D and Prof. Bahren Umar Siregar, MA. Ph,D  then second, presentation by Dr. Aspalilah Shapii (from Malaysia), Dr. Noor Fadhilah (from Malaysia) and the last speaker by Christine Lewis (from Cambridge University). Next the events of International Seminar had lunch break, lunch interest, door prize, soft closing and the last proceedings discussion.
International seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Ibnu Hajar Damanik, M.Si. Unfortunately he could not attended due to went to Jakarta then he was replaced by Dr. Daulat Saragi, M. Hum. International seminar discusses about the language, that language is a social phenomenon. This means that language forms and evolves in the society. There is no language without society and there is no society without language. It also discusses about social context of language, translation of language, and cultural-based student centre learning for ESL/EFL classroom.

In the events, Prof. Dr. Hj. Sumarsih. M.Pd. promoted a book that language in the learning culture about learning revolution who arranged by her, and two of her friends. The presentation was interested enough, with used clip video and clearly speech. Each season of presentation had 3 people to asked something to the speakers with used English speech. And to not bored in the beginning in the middle and in last of the seminar, participants provided entertainment like some songs from the community of Medan.

In the presentation, the speakers had some conclusion about this topic. “Language learning  has 3 areas : learning language, learning through language and learning about language.” Prof.Amrin Saragih, Ma. Ph,D said. “when political and economical power is closely tied to a particular language and culture.. there is a strong incentive for individuals to abandon their language in favor of another more prestigious one,” Christine Lewis added. Then,  Dr. Noor Fadhilah said “learning English doesn’t mean neglecting or abounding your culture an local languages.” And the last conclusion came from Dr. Aspalilah Shapii added “culture is the characteristic of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts.
